About CALM

We’re all on a journey in life; sometimes the way is smooth and the road is clear. However sometimes we can feel lost, alone, stuck, afraid, overwhelmed… sometimes we can find it hard to even put one foot in front of the other.

If your journey has become difficult to navigate alone I believe counselling can help.

Here at CALM it is my aim to meet you where you’re at on your journey and to travel with you for as long as needed, offering safety, connection, and space for you to be you, in a calm, comfortable and welcoming environment. Our sessions together will give you the opportunity to explore those aspects of your life and journey that are most pressing or troubling to you, with the aim of bringing a new perspective, clarity, hope and change.

About Alice

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, so that our journey together is tailored to suit you. My approach is trauma-informed and includes the use of creative interventions, and an interest in the mind-body connection to facilitate exploration and understanding.

I hold a Diploma of Higher Education (Level 5) in Counselling and am a registered member of the ACC.

My Approach

Connection

An essential part of all human experience, and at the heart of my approach, it is a priority for me to meet you just where you are on your journey, and offer connection and safety.

Compassion

A compassionate and non-judgmental approach is key in allowing you to be truly who you are.

Curiosity

The first step towards knowing ourselves better, we will move beyond self-blame and judgement, and look with curiosity, whether at the small details of your life or at the bigger picture.

Creativity

Creative interventions can be a powerful tool to help us look at the challenges you are facing from different perspectives, and to explore what is troubling you. Whether it be a simple pen and piece of paper, the use of exploration cards, nesting dolls, sand tray work and many more techniques besides, creative interventions can help facilitate the work we do together in helpful and sometimes surprising ways. (And don't worry - you don't have to be at all artistic to make full use of creative interventions!)

Calm

Hopefully not just my name! Calm is at the core of my work with clients. That doesn't mean that you always have to feel calm, counselling can bring up a range of (sometimes unexpected) emotions and reactions. As a trauma-informed counsellor I place a high value on bringing a sense of calm and safety to my clients by incorporating grounding techniques and nervous system regulation during our sessions together, so that you feel safely held throughout the process.

Helpful information

Services

I provide one-to-one, adult (18+) counselling, face-to-face.

What to expect

Beginning counselling can be an extremely daunting prospect, and you may want to 'dip a toe' into the experience. I offer an initial exploration session at half the usual price. In this 50 minute session you can tell me a bit about yourself and what brings you to counselling, and I can tell you more about the way I work. Then we can decide if I’m the right person to travel with you on this part of your journey.

Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes each and are usually on the same day and at the same time each week, though there may be flexibility in timings to accommodate specific requirements.

Location

Sessions are held at The Wellhouse, a beautiful, dedicated wellbeing space located in a rural setting just outside Alton, Hampshire. The Wellhouse has a comfortable counselling room, separate waiting area, toilet facilities and free parking.

Fees

Each 50 minute session is charged at £55, which is payable by bank transfer before the session. An initial exploration session is available at £27.50.

If you need someone to help you on your journey please do reach out, I would love to hear from you.
